America’s current education system is on based on the agricultural and industrial needs of our forefathers. Not the modern service and technical needs of today. Our guest, Milt Steiner, currently heads a robotics club for high school students. Robotics gives them the opportunity to work together in different departments, much like a modern business, towards the goal of creating a robot that will win a national competition.
His experience teaching these kids is enlightening in how education can be optimized to fit the needs of the modern world.
His approach of, “project-based learning” gives the students the opportunity to take the base skills they’ve learned in high school, and apply them to reality. They learn critical thinking and problem solving skills when assembling the robot, and even marketing and PR skills to help build the robot’s funding base.
This is a radical approach to learning in a reactionary teaching world. Listen in to learn how you can better learn, and how you can teach those around you to want to become the best versions of themselves!
